Community Response Training

Designed for a multidisciplinary audience of dispatchers, law enforcement, prosecutors, probation officers, judges, court administrators, advocates, batterers’ group facilitators, related human service providers, community leaders and activists. This 1 to 3 day training provides participants with an opportunity to broaden their understanding of the criminal justice Coordinated Community Response (CCR) model. Participants will learn:

  • Assumptions and principles that guide inter-agency interventions in these cases

  • Individual agency as well as collective goals, roles and tasks in a CCR

  • How to assess the effectiveness of current agency interventions

  • How to enhance responses through:

    • Inter-agency policy and procedural development

    • Inter-agency systems of accountability

    • Coordination of information gathering and dissemination

    • Case review and consultation

    • Individual and cross skills-based training program

We will plan the agenda carefully with you to provide the fundamentals of a CCR while offering specialized topics that fit your community, address local gaps in understanding and help your inter-agency team build a shared vision in the community.

Additional two to four-hour training sessions are available for specific disciplines, related to specific practices, such as: 911 calls and protocols which enhance investigative practices and safety; law enforcement report writing guidelines and review; prosecutorial practices which are not dependent on victim participation; pre-sentence investigations and recommendations; and others.

In order for organizers and participants to derive maximum benefit from the training, we suggest that other technical assistance options are also selected.
